Please note that you will have to transfer yourself to the beach wheelchair or be helped by a companion.

In Maui you can enjoy the sea relaxing on its beaches but also learning on the Maui Ocean Center. Focused around Hawaii's diverse and one of a kind marine life, this place exhibits the unique Pacific coral extensively, well known green sea turtles and sharks. Given that the center is wheelchair accessible, you will be able to explore it at its fullest potential. Housing many fish species, tunneled aquariums gives you an in-the-ocean experience. Kealia Pond National Wildlife Refuge

Kealia Pond National Wildlife Refuge is a coastal salt marsh located on the western coast of the island of Maui. The refuge provides a home for 30 species of bird, such as waterfowl and several kinds of ducks. Tourists can visit the refuge and walk on the boards between the salt marshes.

 Kealia Pond National Wildlife Refuge is located in Maui, and is a great place for a self-guided visit during your time on the island. 

The refuge stretches over 285 hectares (704 acres) and is home to over 30 different species of birds. There is a large modern visitor center which has educational exhibits about the natural habitat of the marshland and the important role it plays in the local ecosystem. The refuge is covered with wooden boardwalk trails so that you can explore different areas of the marshes. There are also shaded structures along the pathways with additional information boards, where you can rest and take a moment to look at the birds. You can bring binoculars and a camera to snap shots of the local wildlife. 

The refuge was designed with accessibility in mind, as the wooden board pathways can be navigated independently in a wheelchair. There is also an accessible bathroom in the visitor center.

Kamaole I Beach

Located on the southwest of the island of Maui, Hawaii, Kamaole Beach Park 1 is a long stretch of golden sand that’s popular with tourists and locals. The beach is safe for swimming and there are opportunities to snorkel too. Facilities include lifeguards and a nearby parking lot.

Kamaole Beach Park is a stretch of 3 beaches divided by lines of rocks. The beach park is known by locals as one of the best on the island, thanks to its fine sand and to the calm waters, which make it great for swimming. On your self-guided visit, you can also snorkel at this beach, and may see local flora and fauna hiding in the rocky outcrops.

If you’re visiting Kamaole Beach Park, it’s best to go in the morning as the water will be at its calmest. It’s a very popular beach with tourists, so getting there early may also help you to bag a spot. Facilities at the beach include a nearby parking lot and a manned lifeguard station.

Kamaole Beach Park is a great beach for people with disabilities. There are 4 dedicated accessible parking bays in the parking lot, and a smooth pathway of wooden boards from the parking lot to the beach. One of the beach showers is accessible for people with disabilities, and there is a lowered fountain for wheelchair users.

At Kamaole Beach Park 1, you can also borrow the beach’s sand beach chair, which is located at the lifeguard tower and is allocated on a first come, first served basis. The wheelchair is normally available to borrow from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, but may not be offered if the water conditions are hazardous. Please be aware that you may have to self-transfer into the wheelchair or may require assistance to transfer from a companion, as the lifeguards are not obliged to assist you.

The Beach Trax is an accessible mat that you can rent to allow wheelchair access to Maui’s beaches or other sand, gravel, dirt, and grass floors. It's 3 feet long, easy to carry and set up, and made of recyclable long-lasting material.

The minimal rental period is 3 days with the option to add 24-hour periods. You can either program the pick-up and drop-off in advance, the center is located at 400 Hana Hwy, central Maui, or ask for a delivery service for an extra charge.

Since 1994, Maui Arts and Cultural Center has been a public facility that offers to its community and visitors world-class spectacles: Music, movies, dancing and more. A perfect family activity, there is an outdoor theatre to watch amazing performances breathing Hawaii's fresh air.

The premises are wheelchair accessible. With designated seating, an accessible elevator and restrooms for wheelchair users, headsets and Senheiser infrared assistive listening system are available in the Castle Theatre. Service animals are welcome!

As a public facility, Maui Arts and Cultural Center welcomes you. If you would like to attend to one of its shows, tickets can be bought onsite!

If you want to explore Maui's sandy beaches with a little bit of help, renting the MobiChair amphibious wheelchair is an excellent choice. This chair allows wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility to move around the beach, get into and float in the water with the help of a companion.

Makena Landing

One of the best ways to get to know Maui is to enjoy its ocean. On this 2-hour activity, you’ll snorkel, swim and explore clear waters, with the equipment included and two guides to accompany and assist you if necessary. With various flotation devices available and professional assistance throughout, you’ll watch beautiful ocean sights and enrich your Maui visit. 

The tour starts at 8:00 AM at Makena Landing, Maui. The site has accessible bathrooms with partially accessible showers. Equipment such as snorkel masks and flotation devices are included. Two guides will always assist you, and don’t forget your towel, water shirt, and reef-safe sunscreen.

This private adaptive surf lesson allows you, your family, or your friends, to have the time and attention required for a successful surfing experience, whether you are a first-timer or not. instructors will support you in getting into the water and catching waves tandem style, riding the beautiful Maui waves with you, and sharing the "stoke." 

The surf spots have been carefully selected for their year-round beginner and intermediate surf conditions. Assistance will be provided at all times. If you are a wheelchair user, a beach wheelchair may be provided if needed.

Haleakala National Park

Breathtaking landscapes, scenic sunsets and unique flora and fauna, the 30,000-acre Haleakala National Park is a must stop when visiting this beautiful island. Hosting the Haleakala mountain, Maui’s highest peak, experiencing and photographing natural surroundings can be inspiring and memorable.

The Park Headquarters Visitor Center, Haleakala Visitor Center, the summit building and Hosmer Grove picnic area are wheelchair accessible. Also, public accessible restrooms and parking are available and for visitors for hearing impairment, a script is available in Park Headquarters Visitor Center and Haleakala Visitor Center. Service animals are welcome!

Enjoy Maui waters with this adaptive kayak experience! The best time to enjoy easy ocean conditions is early morning. For this reason, this tour will start after an 8 AM check-in at Makena Landing. Your kayak guides will instruct you on paddling and safety and accommodate any special needs before getting on the water.

Once in your kayak, you'll paddle out to enjoy the incredible and inspiring views of the Makena coastline and the rising green hills up Haleakala. You may even see a turtle or two! Each tour includes two guides for safety and comfort.

On this accessible and cultural tour, you’ll visit Haleakalā National Park with a guide and watch a magnificent sunrise over Haleakalā volcano. The group tour begins with a pick-up service from your hotel at 1:45 AM and a short drive to Haleakalā National Park. Your authorized interpretive guide will accompany you to the top of the volcano where you’ll enjoy spectacular views over the landscape. You’ll learn about the local flora and fauna and may see Hawaii’s state bird, the Nene goose. Next on the tour is a short visit to the small town of Makawao to explore the town’s Hawaiian cowboy heritage, and you’ll then go to the popular surfing town of Pa’ia where you’ll have breakfast in a local cafe. The bus will then take you along Maiu’s north shore and inland to Ha’iku. Throughout the tour, your guide will tell you about Hawaiian history and culture. At the end of the tour, you’ll be dropped back at your hotel. 

This accessible tour includes transportation in a vehicle with a wheelchair lift. Some of the places visited have a wheelchair-accessible bathroom. Some assistance may be required at some locations visited but your trained guide will be available to help. 

Depending on the location of your accommodation we will be able to offer early pickup.

Sunrise at Haleakalā Volcano and Cultural Guided Tour of Maui

Rent an electric scooter to help you get out and about and discover Maui! The Revo 2.0 includes a backrest, a front basket, a comfortable seat, and accessible tie-downs.

All rentals have all the necessary equipment, such as charging cables and keys. When the scooter is dropped off, an assistant will be available to give you tips on how to get the most out of it. Then you can self-transfer into the electric scooter and head out to enjoy your destination.

On this accessible, informative tour, you’ll explore Haleakalā National Park with a certified guide. The tour begins with a morning pick-up service from your hotel and a drive to Haleakalā National Park. Here, you’ll go to the top of Haleakalā volcano and enjoy amazing views over the park. You may also spot some local flora and fauna and your guide will tell you about the region’s delicate ecology. The rest of the tour is a drive through upcountry Maui with frequent stops to memorable local destinations, including the cowboy town of Makawao and the pineapple plantation at Ha’iku. At the end of the tour, you’ll enjoy lunch in a cafe in the surfing town of Pa’ia before being dropped back off at your hotel. Throughout the tour, your guide will tell you about Hawaiian history and culture and can answer your questions.
