Nestled in the scenic hills of Upstate New York, Binghamton is a county with a big heart and even bigger stories. Known as the “Carousel Capital of the World,” it boasts six operating carousels—more than anywhere else—alongside a trailblazing spirit that gave rise to modern flight simulation and inspiration to Rod Serling, creator of the Twilight Zone. Wander accessible riverside parks, experience the groundbreaking LUMA Projection Arts Festival, and savor local flavor at Spiedie Fest & Balloon Rally. The county is thoughtfully designed for travelers of all abilities, offering inclusive playgrounds, sensory-friendly museums, and wheelchair accessible trails. With its vibrant culture, natural beauty, and pioneering accessibility efforts, Binghamton invites every visitor to enjoy the ride.

Binghamton is a true year-round destination, with every season offering something special. Summer brings iconic events like Spiedie Fest & Balloon Rally and Porchfest, while fall paints the hills in vibrant foliage, perfect for trail strolls and scenic drives. Spring and winter provide quieter moments for museum visits and cozy cultural experiences, making it a great getaway any time of year.
Binghamton experiences all four seasons, with warm summers ideal for festivals and outdoor fun, and crisp, colorful autumns that delight leaf-peepers. Winters are snowy but manageable—perfect for museum hopping and indoor activities—while spring brings refreshing blooms and mild temperatures. No matter the season, there’s always a reason to explore.
Binghamton shines with festive energy all year. In June, we show our “rainbow” support at events like Pride Palooza in the Park. For more than a decade, En-Joie Golf Club in Endicott has hosted the award-winning PGA Tour Champions’ DICK’S Sporting Goods Open. August brings Spiedie Fest & Balloon Rally, celebrating the area’s signature dish with balloons and live music. September lights up with LUMA, the nation’s largest projection arts festival. Our art galleries and creative spaces come alive every month for the First Friday Art Walk. These signature events reflect the county's creative spirit and tight-knit community.
Don't miss a spin on Binghamton’s historic carousels or the inclusive play experience at OURSPACE at Rec Park. Stroll the accessible paths of Otsiningo Park, explore exhibits at the Roberson Museum, and enjoy family-friendly fun at the Discovery Center. Animal Adventure Park is an interactive, educational animal park, featuring over 250 animals. For a taste of local flavor, dine at the wheelchair-accessible Little Venice Restaurant and stay in comfort at inclusive hotels like the Holiday Inn Downtown.
