Accessibility Verified is a yearly certification and visibility program that helps hotels attract seniors and travelers with disabilities through an on-site accessibility assessment, verified listing on wheeltheworld.com, and ongoing support.
It takes around 1 week to coordinate a certified mapper in your location, and the on-site accessibility assessment takes approximately 1 hour. Once completed, your verified listing is published and promoted on Wheel the World.
Our certified mappers conduct an in-person accessibility evaluation of your hotel. Some of the features we verify, measure, and map include:
✅ Bathrooms – roll-in showers, grab bars, toilet height, and space to maneuver
✅ Bedrooms – turning space, bed height, and accessible layout
✅ Common areas – entrances, elevators, parking, public restrooms, and more
This information is compiled into a detailed accessibility report and score.
No. Hotels must meet our minimum accessibility criteria to be listed. This includes:
- Step-free entrance to both the hotel and the accessible room
- At least one accessible bathing option: roll-in shower, accessible bathtub, or transfer shower
You’ll receive a detailed report with suggestions for improvement, and once the required features are implemented, your listing will be published.
Not at all. We work with hotels of all sizes, including boutique and independent properties. What matters most is your commitment to accessible hospitality.
The program costs $150/month, billed annually. This includes the full on-site assessment, verified listing, platform tools, staff training, marketing visibility, and unlimited support — with no extra fees.
Once verified, your hotel will appear on Wheel the World, the leading travel platform for people with disabilities and seniors. You’ll be featured in search results, accessibility filters, and marketing campaigns aimed at inclusive travelers.
Yes. All verified hotels get access to the Wheel the World Academy, our e-learning platform designed to help your team serve guests with disabilities and seniors with confidence and empathy.
The global accessible travel market exceeds $120 billion. In the U.S. alone, over 15 million travelers with disabilities take around 40 million trips per year — and they’re looking for verified, inclusive places to stay.
🛏 52% report beds are too high or hard to access

Accessibility Verified helps you solve these issues and stand out to a highly underserved — and loyal — segment of travelers.

Accessibility Verified is a certification program created specifically for the travel and hospitality industry. While our standards are inspired by the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), we go beyond legal checklists to focus on what truly matters to travelers with disabilities: real-world usability.
Our methodology is pragmatic and user-centered. Instead of relying on assumptions or self-reported data, we perform on-site accessibility mapping conducted by trained professionals, combined with traveler feedback and technical standards.
This means we verify:
Step-free access to rooms and common areas
Bathroom usability, including roll-in showers, grab bars, transfer space, accessible bathtubs
Navigation ease, including doorway widths, surface types, and accessible signage
Suitability for a wide range of needs, including wheelchair users, travelers with visual, hearing, or cognitive disabilities
Unlike traditional compliance, we also document any barriers or limitations transparently — so travelers know exactly what to expect, and your team knows what can be improved.
In short: ADA compliance is the legal minimum. Accessibility Verified is the hospitality standard that builds trust, drives bookings, and delivers inclusive travel experiences.
