You will pass through eucalyptus forests, discover inspiring landscapes, and get to the top of the volcano, offering you a viewing point over Hanga Roa, the island’s main town. The crater of Rano Kau crater is the largest of Rapa Nui. The rainwater inside it created a freshwater lake, that is covered by totora reeds, figs, and vines. It is one of the most special and magical places on the island. You will also get to visit Orongo, the ceremonial center of the island. This village consists of old stone houses, with no windows, that face Motu Nui, where initiation but also adulthood admission ceremonies took place. Some of the houses feature petroglyphs, representing birdmen and Make Make, the god who created the island.

For hundreds of years, it served as a quarry for carving out the Moais — the giant statues representing deified ancestors. This landscape will take your breath away as you make your way to the volcano crater while observing the Moais-filled valley. To make the most of this experience, we recommend taking this tour in the afternoon before sunset. Take your time to explore the valley and listen to the guides telling you the story of the place and sharing the great myths of the Rapa Nui culture. Once you finish the tour of the Moais, your journey will continue to the freshwater crater lake. From there, you will enjoy the intense colors of the sunset.

Terevaka is the youngest of the three extinct volcanoes and the highest place on the island, at 511 meters above sea level. The top of the volcano offers a 360 degrees panoramic view of the Rapa Nui. While hiking there, you will enjoy views of the small forests, green hills and lush meadows with wild horses.
