Day 1. Arrival
Your local guide will welcome you at the airport, will assist with your luggage and will transfer you to your hotel, in a private adapted van.

Depending on your hotel, the journey from the airport can take up to 1 hour.
Early morning, you will make your way to Tortuguero island. During the 90-minute transfer, you will pass through the Bruno Carrillo National Park...Early morning, you will make your way to Tortuguero island. During the 90-minute transfer, you will pass through the Bruno Carrillo National Park. You will also stop by the Evergreen rest center to enjoy a typical Costa Rican “Tico” breakfast. While you are there, remember to look around, as there might be sloths in the trees!
After breakfast, you will head to La Pavona pier, where you will board a boat to Tortuguero. Getting to the dock currently requires some assistance for wheelchair users. An accessible path is being worked on. Assistance will be provided by dock staff, but also remember that people in Costa Rica are genuinely kind, warm, and happy to help.
The boat ride lasts for about one hour, and the water is very calm. On the way, you will enjoy wonderful landscapes and might see crocodiles, iguanas, monkeys, and plenty of different birds species. You will then arrive at a 100% accessible lodge, where a lunch buffet will be available for you to enjoy.
After lunch, you will visit the town of Tortuguero. It is a very picturesque and small town. The tour lasts about 90 minutes, during which you will be able to have ice cream, discover the views of the seashore and purchase local souvenirs if you so wish. Accessible public toilets are available.
You will then return to the lodge to have dinner, rest and spend the night.
Day 3. Sunrise animal watching + Tortuguero accessible hike

Access to this boat is a bit difficult for wheelchair users, but a safe way to transfer travelers, and their chairs have been found. During this 90 minutes journey through the Tortuguero canals, you will see all kinds of animals: birds, iguanas, monkeys, alligators, and sloths, among others. This trip will highly probably be one of the highlights of your vacations.
Members of the lodge staff have received training and will offer assistance to whoever requires it, to get on and off the boat.
Once back at the lodge, you will have breakfast and free time to rest. The lodge boasts a swimming pool with a ramp and a wheelchair. It offers a very pleasant spot for a break.
Lunch will be served at the lodge, and later on, you will take a walk through the accessible paths of Tortuguero, where you will discover the impressive local flora and fauna. This hike lasts for about 90 minutes. A Joelette chair can be provided if required, for the most adventurous travelers, wanting to go through more difficult trails.
After this hike, you will go back to the lodge to have dinner and spend the night.

You will travel by boat for about an hour, followed by a 2-hour drive. You will stop by for lunch and be able to use accessible toilets on the way. You will then arrive at the hotel.
The hotel offers accessible bedrooms, and even though the accesses are adapted, the inclinations can be a little high and travelers using manual wheelchairs will need help a bit of help to be pushed. Also, the restaurant has two floors, but only one of them is accessible.
At 16:00, you will start your trek from the hotel. It lasts for about 1 hour and consists of an easy path, with few steps. You will be accompanied by an expert guide in animal sighting al all times, to offer a great opportunity to discover the local flora and fauna. The biggest difficulty is crossing a bridge that moves a lot and is narrow but there is no problem.

After having breakfast at the hotel, it will be time for you to head to the treetops! The place is 100% accessible, with adapted restrooms and accesses, so that everyone can experience the unbounded excitement.
After getting back to the land, you will continue your day in Vida Campesina, where you will take a cooking class. It will begin with an introduction of the place and the produce that grows there, and you will make a toast at the end of the experience, with some cane extract. The typical Costa Rican dinner that you will prepare will put an end to the day.
