This multi-day trip was designed with accessibility in mind. Your comfort and safety are our priorities! All guaranteed accessible rooms are equipped with a roll-in shower, and an accessible van fitted with a wheelchair lift will do all transfers between destinations and activities. All transfers exceeding 2 hours will include accessible restroom stops. Please inform your guide in advance if you'll require such accommodations.

Park-inn by Radisson San Jose, Evergreen Lodge, Selva Verde Lodge, Kioro Suites & Spa, and Best Western Jaco Beach All-Inclusive Resort are the selected hotels; if the accessible room is not available at the time of your booking, we will find other similar accommodation with an accessible room that also matches your needs.

You have the option to include a Joëlette wheelchair and a beach wheelchair in your trip upon request, subject to an additional charge. Please let our travel experts know; they will gladly assist you with the arrangements.

Morning: After breakfast at your hotel, you'll head to La Pavona pier on an accessible van and board a boat to Tortuguero. There is no wheelchair-accessible entrance to the boat, and getting off your wheelchair might be necessary since there are no safety straps. However, your guide and dock staff are available to help. This tour is not recommended for very heavy power wheelchairs; you can come along if you are ok with using a borrowed manual wheelchair.

Lunch: After enjoying the 1-hour boat ride's spectacular landscapes, you’ll arrive at Evergreen Lodge, which is wheelchair accessible. Here you will have a buffet lunch.

Afternoon: After lunch, you’ll visit the sea turtle conservatory. It is a small museum that allows you to learn all about turtle species through beautifully curated exhibitions. You'll be taken back to the Evergreen Lodge to finish your day, where your accessible room will be waiting for you!

At around 5:45, you’ll meet your guide at the hotel's private dock to depart to the Tortuguero canals. Access to this boat is a bit difficult for wheelchair users, but with the help of lodge and dock staff, who have been trained to help, you’ll be safely transferred.

During this 90-minute journey through the Tortuguero canals, you’ll see all kinds of animals: birds, iguanas, monkeys, alligators, and sloths, among others. This trip will likely be one of the highlights of your vacation!

Once back at the lodge, you’ll have breakfast and free time to rest. The lodge boasts a swimming pool with a ramp and a wheelchair. It offers a delightful spot for a break.

Afternoon:

Lunch will be served at the lodge, and later on, you’ll take a walk or wheel through the accessible paths of Tortuguero National Park, where you'll discover the impressive local flora and fauna. This hike lasts for about 90 minutes, and entrance tickets to the park are not included since they can only be purchased on-site.

A Joëlette wheelchair can be provided for an extra price, if required, for the most adventurous travelers wanting to go through more challenging trails.

After this hike, you’ll return to the lodge for dinner and the night.

Afternoon: You'll have a guided sloth tour strolling through an accessible trail, allowing you to explore the renowned rainforest of La Fortuna. As you embark on this journey, you'll find yourself fully immersed in the lush greenery of the rainforest. Keep your eyes alert, as there's a good chance we'll encounter the charming sloths in their natural habitat, witnessing their distinctive behaviors such as slow movements, tree climbing, and feeding.

Evening: Later, you will be transferred to Kioro Suites & Spa (14 min / 9.7 km).

Afternoon: After the boat tour, you’ll go to the hotel to rest (28 min / 21.5 km) and enjoy the all-inclusive facilities and services Best Western Jaco Beach All-inclusive Resort offers, your accommodation for the next 3 days. Your accessible room equipped with a roll-in shower is guaranteed.
