This tour includes transportation in an accessible van, which will pick you up from your hotel and drop you back at the end of the tour. You will begin your Vatican Museums tour in the garden, which offers an excellent view of the dome of Saint Peter's Basilica. You will also visit the courtyard of the Pigna, which features a fountain with a bronze pine cone that was originally situated at the entrance of the ancient Constantinian basilica. Once inside the Vatican Museums, the 4-hour tour will take you through some of the rooms of treasured works of art until you reach the Sistine Chapel. You will pass through the Clementina Gallery and into the Alexandrine Gallery, which houses the library of the Queen of Sweden. Next, the tour will move onto the 2 Pauline Rooms, where you will see displays of Greek manuscripts. Afterward, you will visit the Sacred Christian Museum and the Aldobrandine Wedding Room and then the Room of Tributes, which features a vast range of chalices, crosses and other religious objects from many eras. The last stop on the tour will be the Sistine Chapel, magnificently decorated with frescoes by Botticelli, Rosselli and Michelangelo. Your guide will highlight features of some of the frescoes, which show biblical stories such as the prophet Moses and Noah and the Ark, as well as portraits of former popes. You will also have a chance to admire the ceiling, with the Creation of Adam fresco at its center. Accessible bathrooms can be found in the Vatican Museums, as well as mobility aids such as lifts on flights of stairs. There is also a cafe, accessible via a ramp, where you can stop for refreshments. Your guide will be available throughout the tour to answer your questions and to assist you, if necessary.
