On this full-day fun accessible tour, you will get to discover Mayan history and culture and explore some of the beautiful Mexican landscape. The tour will begin with a pick-up service from your accommodation in an accessible vehicle with a ramp, and staff will be available to assist you to transfer if necessary. You will then drive for a little under 3 hours to the Chichen Itza archaeological site. Upon arrival, you will meet your guide who will be able to tell you about the Mayan people and the discoveries made at the site, which is known as one of the ‘New Seven Wonders of the World’ and was the ancient capital of the Mayan empire. You will then have some time to admire the numerous Mayan ruins and 24-metre high Kukulkan pyramid at your own pace. As the ground of the site can be uneven and rocky, a GRIT wheelchair can be provided if necessary to give you greater freedom to explore the site. Climbing the pyramid is strictly forbidden in order to preserve the delicate stonework, but you can still get a great view of the imposing building from the ground level. You will then drive to the city of Valladolid, a colonial town with charming buildings and a historic church. You will have some time to get to see the town before settling down to lunch in a local restaurant. Here, you will have a choice of regional dishes, as well as a generous salad bar. The restaurant also has accessible bathroom facilities. After lunch, you will head to a nearby cenote, or underground reservoir, many of which are scattered throughout the countryside. The cenote has beautiful stalagmites and stalactites and clear blue water. If you wish, you can snorkel in the cenote to cool off and discover an underwater world. Then the van will pick you up and drive you back to your accommodation, approximately 2 hours away.

Discover Mexican culture and heritage on this exciting, accessible guided day tour. The tour begins with a pick-up service from your hotel in a wheelchair-accessible van. After a drive of approximately 90 minutes, you will arrive at the archaeological site of Tulum, 130 km from Cancun. ‘Tulum’ means ‘wall’, and is named after the impressive walled city, which is one of the few walled cities built by the Mayans. The city is perched on cliffs, overlooking the deep blue Caribbean Sea. You will have a tour of the site led by a knowledgeable and bilingual guide, who will explain some of the relics left by the Mayans and what we have discovered about their civilization. Then you will have some free time to explore the site by yourself. The next stop on the tour is a visit to Coba, the most powerful and important city in the region during the time of the Mayan empire. Coba is famous for its network of stone causeways, the ruins of which still survive today. Here, you can follow a 4.8 km (3 mile) hike, with bicycles provided upon request, and climb to the top of the highest pyramid in Mexico, measuring 42 metres (130 feet) tall. At Coba, you will also get the chance to snorkel in a cenote, a waterhole with clear waters. The cenote is filled with stalactites and stalagmites, which you will be able to swim close to and take photos of. You will then have lunch in Tulum, before departing back to your hotel in the accessible van. This tour is adapted to accommodate people with disabilities, with only minimal assistance required for people with reduced mobility. The staff have been trained to assist people with disabilities and an accessible bathroom stop is available on the tour. Adaptive equipment can be provided where necessary.

Coba and Tulum Tour

On this accessible, guided half-day trip, you will get the chance to snorkel with marine turtles at the world’s second largest reef. This day trip begins with a 7:00 AM pick-up service in an accessible van from your Cancun hotel. You will have a drive of approximately 2 hours before you reach Akumel, a small coastal resort southwest of Cancun. Here, you will board a small boat, and assistance will be provided to help you transfer, if necessary. There is space on the boat to accommodate a wheelchair. You’ll sail out into deeper waters, accompanied by a guide who will give you information about the natural habitat and the different kinds of turtles found in the Caribbean. You will then get into the water, accompanied by a guide, and snorkel around the reef, looking for turtles. The next stop of the tour is a cenote, a water hole. You can have a quick snack of fruits and peanuts here, before getting back into the water to snorkel in the cenote, looking at the stalagmites and stalactites. A guide will be available to assist you and will snorkel with you. Once you have enjoyed some time in the water, you will be transferred back to your hotel in the accessible van, arriving at approximately 1:00 PM.

Snorkeling with Marine Turtles

Explore the world’s second largest barrier reef on this fun diving day trip, accompanied by expert guides who have experience of working with people with disabilities. 

This trip begins with an hour-long boat ride on an accessible ferry from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel. If you wish, you can also request a pick-up service from your hotel in an accessible van, to take you to Playa del Carmen. 

At Cozumel, you will meet your diving instructor, who will give you a safety demonstration. All diving instructors are trained professionals and people with disabilities will be assisted by 2 instructors at all times. The boat to the barrier reef is not accessible, so you must either be able to self-transfer into the boat or accept assistance to transfer. 

Once in the boat, you will head out to the reef, learning about this unique marine environment from the instructors along the way. You will have about 2 hours of supervised dive time, giving you plenty of time to swim among the reefs and to spot the local wildlife. Afterwards, lunch will be served on the boat and you will have some time to take in the views before returning to Cozumel pier. Drop-off transportation to your hotel can be provided for an extra charge.

Explore the beautiful island of Holbox on this accessible guided tour with lunch included in the price. The tour begins with a pick-up service in an accessible van with a bilingual guide from your Cancun hotel at approximately 8:00 AM, and a drive of about 2 hours and 30 minutes to Chiquila port. At Chiquila, you will board a small boat and sail on Yalahua Lagoon to the Isla de Pajaros, where you can spot native bird species and learn about the natural habitat from your guide. You may also be lucky enough to spot bottlenose dolphins from the boat. The boat is not wheelchair accessible but staff will be available to help you transfer. You will then arrive at Holbox port and have some time to get to know the island. The tour includes lunch at a charming seaside restaurant, so that you can taste the local cuisine. Pack your bathing suit in case you want to swim in the clears waters around the island! Adaptive equipment is also provided to assist you getting into the water. After lunch, you will sail back to the mainland and be transferred back to your hotel.
