Day 1: Arrival + Desert and Sunset Tour thumbnail

Day 1: Arrival + Desert and Sunset Tour

On arrival at the airport, your driver will be waiting for you, to transfer you to your hotel in an accessible van.

After check in, depending on your time of arrival, enjoy a bit of time to relax before your first activity starts around 14:30.

In the afternoon, you will discover 3 of Qatar’s desert hidden secrets. Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in a 4WD SUV. They will provide assistance, if needed, while you transfer onto the vehicle seat. A special seatbelt will be provided to you to help with the balance during the drive.

Once ready, the journey can begin, as you head to the west of Doha and immerse yourself in the desert. After about an hour drive, you will get to “Film City”, located behind a canyon in the desert of the Zekreet peninsula. Purely artificial city that was built for Arabic TV series, Film City recreates an antique Arabic village, in the middle of the desert. As you stroll around the empty space, you will genuinely feel like you have stepped into a ghost town! You will spend about 30 minutes there, after which you will go back to the car for the 2nd stop of the tour.

Mystery Village is located a 10-minute drive away. Also part of film city project, it features special house constructions, made of rock formations. As you wander around, you will get an authentic feeling of stepping into a Star Wars Movie.

After some time here, you will continue your journey towards the famous Desert Columns, about 25 minutes away. As you drive along the desert, enjoy the views around you and you might spot some camels on the way. Richard Serra’s sculpture “East-West/West-East,” is a set of four 14-metres tall standing steel plates that have been craned into place in the middle of the desert. They span over 1 km and make it a unique find in the desert.

Take your time to take in the atmosphere as you have a look around the area. Special equipment and assistance will be provided if required, if you want to roll further around the columns and enjoy the magic sunset hour from there.
When you are ready, you will get back into the car and make our way back to your hotel in Doha.

No trip to Qatar can be complete without a trip to the desert! Leave Doha’s skyscrapers for an exhilarating adventure.

You will be picked up from your location of choice in the city, before making your way to the sand dunes of Mesaieed, about 1h15 away. Once arrived, the tires and security belts will be checked one more time, for extra security, before the fun part of the tour begins!

Get your adrenaline pumping with an hour session of dune bashing in a 4WD SUV, driven by trained drivers. Enjoy the panoramic views of the desert when you are on top of sand dunes, and have fun while sliding them down with the all-terrain beach wheelchair that will be provided to you! Discover saline fields, and get to see Saudi Arabia and the UAE borders near the beach!

After that truly memorable experience, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Doha, where you will be able to make the most of the facilities. Alternatively, a visit to Souq Waqif or other activities can be organised for you. If interested, please let us know!

Get ready for a day of fun!

Depending on the sea tides timing, you will be picked up from your hotel to make you way to Zubarah. After transfe...Get ready for a day of fun!

Depending on the sea tides timing, you will be picked up from your hotel to make you way to Zubarah. After transferring safely into the 4WD SUV, a special seatbelt will be provided to you to help with the balance during the drive. After about an hour drive, you will arrive to Zubarah. Named as part of the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2013, Al Zubarah was once a thriving trading port and renowned pearl fishing spot. It is now Qatar’s largest heritage site thanks to its impressive city wall, archaeological remains of the town that dates back to the 1760s, and Al Zubarah fort, that was built in 1938 and that still overlooks the area nowadays. Ramps and assistance will be provided as you stroll around.

After your visit, you will continue your journey towards Al Thakhira Mangroves reserves. There, you will be able to get change in a tent, to get ready for your next adventure. You will be provided with an all-terrain beach wheelchair so that you can make you way to the kayaks through the sand. After a safety session, you will be assisted to get into the kayak and in the water. The 90-minute kayaking experience will give you the opportunity to get to know the mangroves, home to a unique fauna that includes fish, crabs, migratory birds etc.

Later on, you will get back on land and will be transferred back to your hotel or to the airport, depending on your departure time and preferences.
