Overview

Visiting the Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site in Hyde Park, Dutchess County is like stepping back to the Gilded Age. The opulent 54-room mansion, built by Frederick William Vanderbilt, offers a glimpse into the luxurious lifestyle of the Vanderbilt family. The beautifully manicured gardens and breathtaking views of the Hudson River make it a truly enchanting experience. The mansion tour encompasses approximately eighteen rooms spread across three floors, depending on availability. All of them are elegantly furnished with original furniture and art pieces and will let you travel back in time in total luxury!

Although the house has a step-free ramp entrance, the site is partially accessible since some manual and power wheelchairs do not fit in the small, historic interior elevator to access the upper floors. There is an accessible restroom available and accessible designated parking spaces. Please note that the house can get hot in summer without air conditioning.
