Overview

Devil's Churn Trail, located north of Cape Perpetua Visitor Center, offers a view of the ocean's powerful crashing waves and churning action in a wave-carved inlet. Just 10 minutes away from Yachats by car, the chasm's 80-foot width results from the constant pounding of the waves on a narrow fracture or collapsed lava tube in the volcanic bedrock over thousands of years, exposing the area's volcanic history. It is a testament to the ocean's unyielding, intense force.

Please note that some paths are steep and not gently sloped. Wheelchair users need companions or assistants to complete the trail. Parking is available for a fee of $5, and there is an accessible restroom in the parking area.
