The Hanthorn Cannery Museum, which is in Astoria, despite not being the first, is the oldest fish processing plant remaining on the lower Columbia. This is why this is the best location to go to learn about the history of the cannery and the fishing business through many artifacts, videos, and other resources. 

There is an accessible parking space and accessible restrooms. All areas are step-free and have smooth floors, with the exception of the gift shop which has two steps blocking the entrance. Animal services are allowed.

Astoria Nordic Heritage Park is a place that honors the city’s crucial Scandinavian influence. Many immigrants from Nordic countries arrived in Astoria in the 19th century and thrived as fishermen, small business owners, and farmers. The park celebrates and tells the story of this cultural heritage with flags and informational panels.

The Columbia River Maritime Museum, located in Astoria, Oregon, is a museum whose aim is to preserve Pacific Northwest maritime history. Today, it has become one of the most important institutions of maritime history in the country. With various simultaneous exhibits and its 3D theatre, this is a place you cannot miss. 

This museum has accessible parking spots, designated accessible bathrooms, step-free entrances, and adaptive equipment (wheelchairs) in case you need one. Service animals are allowed.

Oregon Film Museum

To honor and celebrate Oregon's television and film artistry and industry, the Oregon Film Museum recreates sets for actual movies. It also has a screening room,  galleries, and other film-related exhibitions. The site also offers a green screen experience and a gift shop. A true must-stop for movie lovers!

Please note that the only entrance available is a 4-step flight of stairs. Once inside, there are some minor bumps to enter exhibit rooms, and the floors are smooth. There is a restroom with a ramp entrance, a toilet with grab bars, and a skink with knee clearance. Two accessible, designated parking spaces are available.

Lewis and Clark National Historical Park

At Lewis and Clark National Historical Park, you’ll travel 200 years back in time and enjoy exhibitions of historical objects and replicas of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Set amid the rainforests in Astoria, Oregon,  the site has a beautiful exterior area, perfect for exploring and feeling the adventure. 

There are accessible boardwalks outside, and the interior is step-free and has thinly carpeted floors. The park has large print, audio, and braille brochures. Tactile exhibitions are available in the exhibit hall, wheelchairs and scooters are offered, and 2 accessible parking spaces are available. There is no accessible restroom.

One $10 entrance fee is valid for one adult up to seven days at Lewis and Clark National Historical Park.

Wreck of the Peter Iredale

The Wreck of the Peter Iredale is a well-known shipwreck located on the Oregon coast near Astoria. This location in Astoria on the Oregon coast allows you to explore the abandoned tunnel network that runs beneath Astoria's streets and become a part of its past. The tour includes relics and meticulously reconstructed residences, so you can see how things were in the past. This tour is suitable for all ages.

Although this place may have some barriers, the guides and staff members have experience assisting people with various disabilities and are willing to help when necessary. There are no accessible restrooms for this activity, and, in some areas, the floor might be difficult for wheelchair users. This tour is not recommended for power wheelchair users.

The Astoria Column

Located in Astoria, the Astoria Column is a place you cannot stop visiting. Not only does it have some beautiful story-telling artwork from the outside, but from the inside, on its deck, you might be able to look at some of the most important points of interest in the city.

This location has accessible parking spots and designated bathrooms. The entrance to the top of the column is not step-free; it has stairs all the way up. However, the outside surroundings are step-free and have smooth floors.

Visiting the park or climbing the Column is free. Parking is $5 per vehicle, which is good for one year.

Astoria Riverwalk

The Astoria Riverwalk is unmissable for anyone living or visiting the area. The 6.4-mile boardwalk stretches along part of the Astoria and Columbia River Railroad and has different restaurants, breweries, museums, and kiosks along the way. 

The boardwalk is smooth, flat, and has enough turning space for wheelchair users.
